There was a mild drama that took place before the burial of Prince Abubakar Audu, the late All Progressives Congress (APC) Guber candidate in Kogi, reports say. According to The Guardian Newspapers, a Prophet and some of his members, came to the burial and asked Audu’s family members to allow him resurrect the Late APC chieftain. Though Audu’s family members refused, youth who wanted their leader to be brought back to life, broke the door to the room where he was laid, and ushered the Prophet in. After a series of intense prayers that yielded no result, the youths got annoyed, and almost lynched the prophet. A source who spoke to The Guardian said it took the effort of Senator Dino Melaye  to bring the matter under control.

Lawyers yesterday told the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) that the death of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not invalide the on-going election in the state. They urged INEC to allow the deputy governorship candidate of the APC, Abiodun Faleke, to conclude the on-going election. The former Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja Branch, Monday Ubani; a member of the Ogun State Judiciary Service Commission, Abayomi Omoyinmi and a lecturerý of Law at University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Wahab Shittu said the process should be concluded.  Good morning. I hate being a harbinger of bad news. But I have to report this. This is an eyewitness account. On my way to work this morning, I saw a huge plume of fire spewing into the air. The fire burning in a neighbourhood that's so compacted with most of the houses being batchers. These house are so close it's even a great discomfort to find a narrow road leading in the neighbourhood. As I quickened my feet and moved towards it I saw the locals bring in out their belongings in distress and panic mode. I just knew the fire was going to engulf a few more houses;the same fear the locals shared. I tried calling a friend to warn her about the incident, but she didn't respond. I believe she was also responding to the incident. As someone withas a few years in fire fighting and prevention experience, I knew what to do. A 25-year-old student of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, one Michael Loya, was Wednesday, reportedly electrocuted to death while trying to spread wet clothes on a Unclad wire in his compound at Gentle Villa, Gwallameji, Bauchi state. But in a contrary statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the State command, DSP Haruna Mohammed, said Loya was electrocuted while trying to reconnect electricity illegally in his compound. “Preliminary inquiry revealed that the victim might have been electrocuted while trying to reconnect electricity illegally to his compound,” he said. Mohammed said the Police patrol team attached to Yelwa Division visited the scene and rushed the victim to the Federal Polytechnic Medical Centre, Bauchi, for treatment. “Unfortunately, Loya was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor,” the PPRO added. “The corpse has however been deposited at ATBU Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy,” Mohammed stated.

More than 30 people have been killed in a suicide attack at a market in the northern Nigerian city of Yola, officials say. The blast, heard across the city, struck a busy vegetable market where traders were closing up on Tuesday. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari visited Yola on Saturday, declaring that the Islamist militant movement Boko Haram was close to defeat. Yola has twice been hit by deadly bomb attacks this year. The city lies in the north-eastern state of Adamawa, one of the worst hit by the Boko Haram insurgency. More than 80 people have been taken to hospital, some with serious injuries, emergency workers say.

Dr Opeyemi Enoch solved one of the seven millennium problems in mathematic. A Nigerian professor has received a $1 million (£660,000) prize for solving a maths conundrum that had stumped scholars for more than 150 years. Dr Opeyemi Enoch, from the Federal University in the ancient city of Oye Ekiti, solved one of the seven millennium problems in mathematics. The professor was able to finally provide a solution to the Riemann Hypothesis first proposed by German mathematician Bernhard Riemann in 1859, earning him the $1m prize. He announced his findings at the International Conference of Mathematics and Computer Science in Austria, Vienna, exactly 156 years to the day it had been put forward by Riemann.

Mother of Samson Siasia, Nigeria's Ex-international soccer star and current coach of the Under-23 Dream team, Madame Ogere Siasia, was reportedly kidnapped from her home at odoni community of sagama local council Area of Bayelsa state in the early hours of today 17th November.  Reports have it that the armed kidnappers stormed the home of the coach's mother, dragged her out of  her house and into a waiting motorcycle. the Bayelsa state police command's spokesperson, ASP Ansinim Butswat confirmed the incident and said the police is working towards rescuing her.

Nigerian troops killed four suspected Boko Haram suspects and set free 61 people, mainly women and children, held by the jihadist group in the flashpoint northeastern Borno state, the army said Thursday. In an operation, troops under air cover cleared Boko Haram camps “and in the process rescued 61 persons abducted and held captive by the Boko Haram terrorists,” the army said in a statement.        "The rescued persons were mainly women and children,” the military said, adding that troops also “killed four terrorists and arrested one.” There has also not been any indication that any of the more than 200 schoolgirls seized by the Islamists in April last year in Chibok town, Borno state, was among those rescued so far.

Pastor Uguru Usani Uguru from Cross River State was just sworn in as a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, yesterday, but he already has a case to answer. According to a petition signed by Jenny Iwara Osuaya, wife of one Mr. Iwara Osuaya, a Chairmanship contestant in May 1996, in Cross River State, Usani and others murdered her husband in 1996. In a Wednesday report by Pointblanknews , a petition, numbered 673, on the allegation had been filed at the Oputa Panel in 2001.    Usani, who allegedly supported another candidate in the 1996 election, was said to have promised offsetting Osuaya’s election expenses. But when Osuaya went to collect the promised compensation, a fracas ensued which resulted in his death.

BANGUI (Reuters) - A U.N. peacekeeper died and seven civilians were killed in fighting in a refugee camp in Central African Republic, the U.N. refugee agency said Wednesday, in another outbreak of violence the same day dates were announced for long-delayed elections. Central African Republic has been embroiled in fighting since September, with tit-for-tat militia attacks killing at least 90 in the capital. The clashes have delayed elections and cast doubt on a planned  visit by Pope Francis this month.
