Ambode hires 1,200 teachers as retired LUTH cleaner donates pension to Buhari, IDPs
Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the employment of 1,200 primary school teachers in a bid to improve the quality of primary education in the state.
Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), Dr Ganiyu Oluremi Sopeyin, who disclosed the governor’s approval in his office on Monday, said that the gesture was part of ongoing efforts of the current administration to improve the quality of education.
Sopeyin explained that successful candidates were selected through a transparent examination process of international standard.
While congratulating successful candidates who would be joining other teachers, the SUBEB boss urged them to reciprocate government’s good gesture by putting in their best in the State Public Service.
The SUBEB chairman added that the Service has a rewarding system which will compensate teachers for their hard work, dedication and honesty.
Meanwhile, a pensioner, Mrs
Rose Arabameh Julius, who retired as a cleaner at the Lagos University
Teaching Hospital (LUTH) has donated her entire pension of Ten Thousand
Naira (N10,000) to support the federal government’s war against
corruption.
Mrs Julius also promised to
contribute N1,000 every month henceforth, out of her pension, towards
the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
According to a statement
signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye for the special adviser to the president on
media and publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, the pensioner said she made the
donation based on her assurance of President Muhammadu Buhari’s
integrity.
Mrs Julius is quoted to have said that
the president can be trusted to restore Nigeria’s lost glory and
drastically curb corruption in the country.
The pensioner also commended
the president’s efforts to end the Boko Haram insurgency and
rehabilitate internally displaced persons.
Adesina received the donation on behalf of President Buhari and thanked Mrs Julius for her faith in the Buhari administration.
“We
have a pact with Nigerians to change things for the better and we are
on the right track. President Buhari and his team are working tirelessly
to revamp the economy, combat terrorism and curb corruption,” Adesina
