The Nigeria Football Federation has re-appointed Samson Siasia as coach of the Super Eagles following the resignation of the Sunday Oliseh on Friday. Siasia, whose contract as Eagles coach was terminated in October 2011 following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, will be assisted by Salisu Yusuf, who assisted Oliseh, 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner, Emmanuel Amuneke, and Alloy Agu for the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt. The appointment was announced by the NFF following the recommendation of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, which held an emergency meeting after Oliseh’s resignation.

The Wall Street Journal reports it was Leviston who brought the photos to Judge Ann Nevins’ attention during a hearing on Thursday (Feb. 18). (CNN)- The Taiwanese government has ordered an investigation into the collapse of a highrise building, as images emerged showing tin cans built into the walls of the toppled complex. Emergency workers came across the tin cans during the rescue operation, Taiwan's state news agency Central News Agency reported. They appear to have been used as construction fillers in beams. The death toll from Saturday's magnitude-6.4 quake in the city of Tainan has reached 39, with the majority -- at least 24 -- from the Weiguan Jinlong highrise building. Efforts are underway to find 118 people still missing. Taiwan's interior minister and other officials said they would open an investigation into the building's collapse when the rescue operation ends, according to CNA. MTN Nigeria, yesterday, said the closure of its facilities in Ondo by the state government would negatively impact on the quality of its service in the state and its environs. Millions of subscribers would be affected by the development, MTN said.  The telecoms operator said so in a statement issued by its corporate communications executive, Amina Oyagbola, adding that services that will be affected comprised voice and data services, voice traffic across other operators and international traffic, enterprise data service to third-party clients (mostly banks and other corporate clients), which may, in turn, impact services such as ATMs, POS and others.

Nigerian separatists linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and militants in the Niger Delta have hijacked a merchant ship – MT LEON DIAS – and threatened to blow it up with its foreign crew if authorities do not release their detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who has been agitating for a breakaway state of Biafra, military officers said on Tuesday. Brig-General Rabe Abubakar, the Defence Ministry spokesman, confirmed the hijacking occurred on Friday and called it “an act of sabotage”. He did not tell reporters the name of the ship, reported the Associated Press (AP). THISDAY has it that; Other officers told AP yesterday that the navy was in pursuit of the captured vessel. The officers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the issue is sensitive, said the hijackers had given the government 31 days to free Kanu or they would blow up the ship along with its crew. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other security agencies to arrest the immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko, wherever he may be, a senior EFCC operative told THISDAY last night. This came as the anti-corruption agency yesterday also invited some senior military officers in the Procurement Unit at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja to give more details about the purchase of some arms meant to fight Boko Haram in the country. “We (EFCC) and other security agencies have just received a directive from the presidency to do everything possible to arrest former Comptroller-General of the (NSC),  Dikko, wherever he may be. For a very long time have being searching the internet for how to transfer my contact from my blackberry phone to Android, all the method i found requires installing one application to another which i will end up being stuck in serial key or is just a trial version of the soft which makes it impossible for me to do the transfer. The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Information and Strategy has confirmed the kidnap of an aide to Governor Seriake Dickson, Captain Henry Ungbuku (Rtd). Channels has it that; Ungbuku is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Aviation. He was abducted on Sunday within the premises of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Light House Parish, after the Sunday worship service. His abductors had reportedly laid siege to the church located in Iwofe, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, very early in the morning, waiting for their victim to attend the service and come out of the church. Ungbuku’s abductors were said to have asked him to open the door of his vehicle while one of them pointed a gun at him. The gunmen, according to the source, drove their victim away to an unknown destination after forcing him into a waiting vehicle.

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria, Jan 31 (Reuters) - At least 65 people were killed during an attack by Islamist militant group Boko Haram near Nigeria's northeastern city of Maiduguri, a Reuters reporter said after counting bodies at a hospital morgue. The remains of a dozen victims were burnt beyond recognition in Saturday's attack when militants opened fire on residents, set fire to houses and targeted a crowd with suicide bombers, security and medical officials said. A Nigerian military spokesman, Colonel Mustapha Ankas, said that Boko Haram militants attacked the community of Dalori, about 5 km (3 miles) east of Maiduguri in Borno state. Sixty-two other people sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Maiduguri the capital  of the state.
